Please find attached two documents, agreed by the Executive, who are using their powers to introduce rules and changes on an experimental basis (see Rule L12.6). The details of these documents are to be included in the Rules of the League, and adopted for the 2023 season. Aspects of the current rules not being affected by these changes will remain unaltered.
The first document is responding to the restructuring of our League for 2023 and the need to adopt a variety of playing conditions for the newly named divisions, as we move from having discrete 1st and 2nd XI Competitions to more of a “through league” situation with 7 divisions.
The second document deals with a restructuring of the T20 competitions. In the first instance this T20 restructuring is mainly aimed at the T20 Trophy, although 2023 will see the semi-finals of both competitions scheduled to be played on a Sunday.
Both of these documents include input and much contribution from our Player's Forum.
Some rule changes dealing with the appointment of umpires in the higher divisions of the new structure continue to be discussed, and will be communicated to clubs within forthcoming weeks.
